M-Destinations.blogspot.com - He was born in Latvia, a small country in Europe. One day when he was only 25 years old, he was shocked by the decision of his fiancée, Agnes, a 16-year-old who decided to cancel their wedding just one day ahead of the wedding day will be held.

Edward's broken heart then left Latvia and settled in America. After that, he spent the next 30 years to build Coral Castle who had.

Coral Castle is a stone structure located in Homestead, Florida. This structure consists of megalithic stones, each of which weighed several tons. Most of the stone used is a type of oolite rocks containing fossils of shells and coral.

At first, the Coral castle was built in a small town called Florida City. But in 1936, the location was moved to Coral Castle Homestead where the building that later became famous. It took three years to move all the rocks that are in place to his new home.

In Homestead, Edward continued his work to build Coral Castle until his death in 1951.

Coral Castle, built by Edward has long been regarded as one of the most amazing rock structure ever built in the 20th century. Even some people equate it with Stonehenge. What makes people amazed is the fact that Edward builds it alone.

Coral Castle has an area of about 4 hectares and consists of 1,000 tons of rocks together form a wall, carving, furniture and the Tower of the Castle. Amazingly, these great stones were put together not by using any adhesive means. They are simply stacked by utilizing its weight to keep it attached. And just like the pyramids, a pile of rocks is so perfect and so that the gap between the two stones can not be penetrated by the light.

The greatness of the work of Edward's hands is a number of vertical stones, each of which has a height of 2.4 m and forming the perimeter of the complex of the Coral Castle. Each of these vertical cut stones with incredible precision so that each stone has the exact same height. Not only that, when the category 5 Hurricane Andrew (deadliest) invaded and ravaged Florida, none of the stone was shifted from its position.

In the area of the Coral castle, there is also a two-storey tower, each of which consists of rocks high 2.4 meters arranged into becoming the residence of Edward. The total weight of the tower is 243 tons.

The tower is decorated with the homemade telescope, obelisk, fountains, ponds, furniture and sculptures from astronomical objects. The furniture is in it including a heart-shaped table, rocking chair, 25 seats in the shape of a Crescent, bathtub, a bed and a Royal throne.

In addition to the Tower, there is one work that shows the greatness of Edward, i.e. a gate stone weighing 8.2 tons. The gate was made with such perfect balance so that a young child could open the gate that just by pushing it with your fingertips. The mystery of this gate has puzzled many people until one day it suddenly stopped working in 1986.

A group of engineers and then called to fix it. It takes 6 men and a crane weighing 50 tons to move and fix it. They found about this gate is amazing. They found the gate of the stone has the perfect hole and Edward turned out to have been just balancing it with the use of iron rods and bearing trucks.

From here it is known that Edward makes a hole with a diameter of 8 feet on the side of the upper stones penetrate the down side of the rock. Then she inserts an iron rod into the hole and supports the bottom of the gate with a truck bearing. Amazing is, he makes the hole using only hand tools. According to experts, at present, to make a hole with such perfection, needed equipment with laser technology.

In 2005, the gate was returned damaged and repaired. But the repairs being done could not make it as nice as it rotates and surfing initially.
